Seb, a landscape designer and gardener, is another lucky recipient of an ecargo bike courtesy of the Council’s eCargo Bike Accelerator Project. Seb took delivery of an Omnium cargo bike in January this year and is steadily clocking up lots of local km. So far, he’s covered over 984 km (611 miles).
“The bike's been amazing. It helps transport tools for day-to-day jobs and also allows me to move around Brighton far more efficiently. I no longer have to worry about parking charges, traffic, or fuel costs.”
Action taken
Using an Omnium V3, which is a highly versatile cargo bike with an extending front shelf, Seb can carry most of this gardening equipment including battery operated equipment. Using this ecargo bike ties in nicely with his sustainable and ecologically friendly gardening approach. While he still has a van, using his ecargo bike greatly reduces his carbon footprint, which is really important to Seb’s ethos and approach.
Seb finds using the ecargo is a much more efficient way to travel around Brighton & Hove. He doesn’t worry about parking charges, traffic, or fuel costs and finds it an enjoyable way to travel.
“I am very grateful for the support from Brighton & Hove City Council. It has helped me sustainably grow my business while also making a tangible difference to the local environment.”
The positives of using the ecargo bike include:
- It's an efficient way to travel around town
- it's easy to use and saves time
- it's easy and free to park
- Averages about 140 km per month
Switching to cargo bikes reduces the environmental and social impact of deliveries and services in our cities. This contributes towards Brighton & Hove City Council’s Carbon Neutral 2030 goal.
