8 Shenfield Way
Find out more about the project to create three family homes at 8 Shenfield Way.
About the 8 Shenfield Way project
8 Shenfield Way is an existing three-storey, part-detached property that was previously used as a community housing office. As the team has now moved to a more suitable location in the area, the property has been left unused, and we have decided to convert it into much-needed homes for the city.
It is located to the north of Hollingdean, approximately 2.5 miles from Brighton.
We are planning a conversion, partial demolition, and/or extension of the existing property to create three family homes. The scheme will provide two two-bedroom houses and one four-bedroom house.
Project aims
The aims of this project are to:
- provide new homes for our city
- increase energy efficiency
- improve sustainability
- achieve good space standards
What’s happening now
Planning permission, subject to conditions, has been granted, and the tender pack is currently being prepared. The aim is to go out to tender in March 2026.
Time plan
The current time plan for 8 Shenfield Way is:
- tender for principal contractor - March 2026
- aim to start on site - April 2026
The estimated contract duration is approximately 10 months.
Engagement and consultation
Initial consultation letters have been sent to 40 neighbours to introduce the project and invite feedback and comments. This was followed by formal notification from the planning team.
During the construction stage, newsletters will be sent to neighbours every six weeks to inform them of any temporary disruptions, noise, and traffic changes.
