Saxonbury & Highleigh, Albion Hill
Find out more about the transformation of a disused area in Albion Hill.
About Saxonbury & Highleigh
This project will transform a disused and redundant area either side of the lift on the properties' ground floors into much-needed new council homes.
The 2 blocks are located behind St Peter’s church, near The Level, just off the London Road.
The project will provide 4 new homes. There will be 2 two bedroom flats in each block for the council to let under general needs.
All of the flats will be well insulated and the design includes air source heat pumps, contributing towards achieving our carbon neutral targets.
What's happening now
This project is currently under construction but has been put on hold due to new Building Safely Regulations.
Project history
This site was originally an empty storage space on the ground floor.
The design for 2 two bedroom flats in each block was granted planning permission in April 2021.
Engagement and consultation
Residents were consulted on the change of use to the site and the proposals to make it into general housing prior to the planning application.
Following planning approval residents were informed that works were due to start in October 2022.
For the duration of the construction phase, regular monthly newsletters are distributed to all residents in the block requesting feedback on the works and giving contact details of the council and the principal constructors.
