The benefit of sustainable period products
Reusable period products like menstrual cups, cloth pads, and period underwear offer numerous benefits over disposable ones, they:
- reduce the waste that ends up in landfills and oceans
- can last for several years, leading to savings
- are often made from hypoallergenic materials, minimising the risk of irritation and exposure to harmful chemicals found in many disposable products
How to order free sustainable period products
For each member of your household that needs to use period products, you'll need to submit a separate form. You can choose one option between a Mooncup, reusable pads, or period pants. Read the information on each product to help you choose.
This is a trial scheme and product numbers are limited.
Mooncup
Complete the online form to order a free mooncup.
Mooncups can last up to 15 years hold up to 3 times more fluid than tampons. You can wear them for up to 12 hours, depending on your flow. Unlike tampons which absorb period blood, Mooncups collect it.

Period pants
Complete the online form to order free period pants.
HeyGirls' period pants are machine washable and hold the equivalent of 4 tampons. You can wear them for up to 12 hours and can last for up to 5 years. HeyGirls have calculated that switching to period pants can save you an average of £580 a year.
Reusable washable pads kit
Complete the online form to order free reusable pads.
Like the pants, the pads are machine washable, they can be worn for up to 6 hours at a time and last for up to 5 years. HeyGirls have calculated that switching to period pants can save you an average of £610 per year.
The kit comes with 5 pads with different absorbances for each stage of your cycle and an eco cork wash bag. They are made with super soft and sustainably sourced bamboo and organic cotton, and have no perfume, bleach or toxins.
Free disposable products
If you prefer to use disposable products but you're struggling to afford them, you can collect some for free.
Morrisons
You can go to any Morrisons customer service desk and ask for 'a package for Sandy’ or 'a period product pack’. The staff member will give you a free discreet envelope with sanitary products and no questions will be asked.
Aldi
Aldi offers free period packages in customer and colleague toilets. The package is a brown paper bag with two sanitary towels inside.
