Virtual School for children in care or previously in care
Support service aiming to improve the educational and life success of children currently or previously in care.
The Virtual School aims to improve the life opportunities for children in care or previously in care. We work to support your education and enable you to achieve the best you can.
The school is ‘virtual’ in the sense that it is not a school that students actually attend. Most go to school in Brighton & Hove or nearby.
We work with children and young people aged around 3 to 18 years and your parents and carers. We also work with early years settings, schools, colleges, universities, and social workers.
We work with all children in care. We keep an eye on how you're doing at school, and get in touch to offer more support if you need it.
If you're no longer in care, we understand you may still need some extra support. If this is the case, your parent or carer or your school should get in touch. Or if you are over 16 you can contact us yourself if you prefer.
We offer:
- information and advice for parents, carers, school staff and other professionals
- training and support to organisations and professionals
- workshops and clinics for parents and carers
- support with the Personal Educational Plan process
- information and advice around Pupil Premium Plus grants and how they can best be used
- information and advice around the school admissions process and priority admissions status
- signposting to other services that may be able to offer support
