About
The Cullum Centre is located within Hove Park School and is funded by Brighton & Hove City Council.
The Centre provides specialist support for secondary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). It offers a structured and supportive environment which enables young people to access a mainstream secondary education alongside specialist autism provision.
The Cullum Centre is fully integrated within Hove Park School and aims to support students to participate in all aspects of school life. Students benefit from a personalised programme of support designed to develop communication, independence, social understanding, emotional wellbeing and readiness for adulthood.
Specialist staff work closely with families, school staff and external professionals to ensure support is tailored to each young person's individual strengths, needs and aspirations.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Specialist services and expertise
The Cullum Centre works closely with a range of education, health and care professionals to support students' needs. This may include advice and involvement from:
- Educational Psychologists
- Speech and Language Therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Brighton & Hove Inclusion Support Services (BHISS)
- Other specialist professionals as required
Support is delivered through a combination of classroom strategies, small group interventions, individual support and personalised programmes linked to a student's EHCP outcomes.
Where appropriate, the facility works closely with outside agencies and professionals to ensure pupils receive coordinated support across education, health and social care.
Post-16 Provision (Cullum 6)
Cullum 6 provides specialist post-16 support for young people with Autism Spectrum Condition who are preparing for adulthood. Students are supported to access further education, develop independence, build employability skills and prepare for successful transitions into adult life.
The provision works in partnership with local colleges and training providers, enabling students to access a range of academic and vocational pathways whilst continuing to receive specialist support.
