About
The Swan Centre is a specialist centre managed by Brighton and Hove Council. It's located within Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA).
We have limited places for students from Year 7 to 11 who currently have:
- an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- priority need of Communication and Interaction or Cognition and Learning because they have Speech, Language and Communication needs, including Autism
Swan Centre students are placed with us by Brighton & Hove City Council and can come from all across the city.
Students have an individual timetable, which includes:
- intervention sessions in the centre
- curriculum lessons in the academy with support from the Swan Centre team
- lessons unsupported by the team, where students can access learning independently
We also provide enrichment activities.
Young people work with a key worker weekly to develop their independence and strategies to explain their difficulties, and make successful transitions to college, work and training.
