Seniors housing information in easy read
Information in easy read. Find out what seniors housing is and how to apply.
About seniors housing
Seniors housing is for people aged 55 or over.
They are homes that we offer to you if you have been accepted for council housing.
They are a good choice if you want to live on your own but still be part of a friendly and social community.
What you'll get in seniors housing
Every seniors housing home is unfurnished.
Each home is self-contained and has its own bathroom, kitchen, and central heating.
In seniors housing, you can also have:
- a shared lounge
- a garden
- an all day alarm service for emergencies
- low-cost guest rooms so your friends and family can visit
- a laundry (except Ditchling Gardens bungalows)
- pets if you get permission
There are many different types of homes in 24 places across Brighton & Hove.
Support from the Seniors Housing Team
The Seniors Housing Team will be there to help and support you:
- find local services and providers
- find social activities and take part in your community
- check your wellbeing whilst living independently
Extra care
If you need more support at home, Brooke Mead extra care scheme offers an on-site care service.
