Support with housing
Residential care
This is a shared house, where you live with other people. You will have your own room, with a shared kitchen and lounge. You may have a shared bathroom or have one of your own.
All of your bills and activities are included so you do not need to pay these. You will receive a small amount of benefit money.
Staff support will be shared but you may also have some additional staff support such 1:1 support to go out into the community.

Supported living
This can be a shared house with others or it can be where you live in your own flat with staff available to support you.
Staff support can be a mix of shared staff support between you and other people and/or your own staff support such 1:1 support to go out into the community.
In supported living you will have a tenancy with the landlord of where you live. The landlord will be separate to your support staff.
You will receive benefits to cover your rent, bills, activities and food.

Shared lives
This is where you live with a shared lives carer in their home. They may have other family members who you will also live.
You pay your shared lives carers an amount per week for utilities and food. You will receive benefits to help you pay for this and for other activities.

Extra care
Extra care housing is for older people who need some extra support to look after themselves. These schemes have 24 hour care staff available.

Seniors housing
Seniors Housing allows older people to be part of an active community, while knowing help is always available.
Most Seniors Housing has a manager or warden. They're on site throughout the day to keep a check on the residents and look after the building.
There is also a 24 hour emergency alarm, so residents can contact the manager or our CareLink Plus alarm service, when the manager is off duty.

Other support options
Homecare
This is where staff support you at your home. This usually involves supporting you with personal care. The number of hours of support will vary depending upon what it is you need support with.

This is where a staff member supports you either at your home or out in the community.
