New chapter for Mile Oak
Residents in Mile Oak are celebrating the opening of their new library.
The facility, which opened yesterday (August 18), has been built as part of the overall development of Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA).
The new library is a joint initiative by Brighton & Hove City Council Library Service and PACA, and will be used by students and the local community.
This is the second new library to open in the city this year. The first, at Woodingdean, opened earlier this summer.
The new larger bright and airy library building offers:
• more space
• more free to use computers
• new books and cds
Councillor Geoffrey Bowden, Chair of the Economic Development and Culture Committee said: “I am delighted that we are opening this wonderful new facility, particularly at a time when many local authorities are closing libraries.
This is a wonderful facility for both students from PACA and Mile Oak residents providing a full range of library services and a valuable community hub.”
The Mile Oak Public library opening hours are:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 2pm- 5pm
Thursday 2pm-7pm
Friday 2pm-5pm
Saturday 9.30am-12pm
A range of activities has been planned for the Autumn to celebrate the opening of this new joint facility.
