Cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy has been in Brighton today.
Britain’s most successful Olympian, with six gold medals and a silver, Sir Chris came to Preston Park velodrome to meet fans and ride the circuit with bike enthusiasts of all ages.
The star is also promoting a new range of children’s bikes.
On hand to meet Sir Chris was deputy council leader, transport councillor and keen cyclist Ian Davey.
Cllr Davey said: “It was great to see such a good turnout, particularly of children and young people. Sir Chris and other British stars are clearly inspiring a new generation to take up cycling. That’s why we must build a safer environment for cycling – with widespread 20mph, segregated cycle lanes and safer junctions. If we do that, the young people Sir Chris inspires will hopefully be using their bikes for a lifetime of sport, exercise and transport.
“Sir Chris was aware of the what we’ve been doing here and told us to keep up the good work.”
