Jewish High Holy Days and the rule of six

From Friday, Jewish communities will be marking the High Holy Days, starting with Rosh Hashana.

This year’s celebrations will need to be different to limit the risks around the transmission of the virus.

We understand that it may be difficult to not celebrate with your friends, families and communities as you usually would, we wish you all the best and hope you can find a way to mark the festive period safely.

To help with this, the government have prepared a High Holidays checklist which sets out what is and isn’t permitted under the Rule of Six and other public health measures.

The guidance includes:

• Don't gather in a group of more than 6 indoors or outdoors unless you are one household or support bubble.
• Don't share food between groups
• Please continue to wash your hands regularly, wear face coverings where advised, maintain a safe distance from others.
• Communal worship or prayer can go ahead but event organisers must follow the covid guidelines.
