Brighten up Brighton & Hove – see and be seen this winter
With the clocks having gone back and the nights drawing in, we’re urging people to be on the look out for vulnerable road users, as well as providing resources to help pedestrians and cyclists ‘brighten up’ this winter.
It's all to help prevent injuries on the city’s roads and pavements.
A team of road safety officers and East Sussex Fire & Rescue volunteers are going to be out and about this week encouraging drivers to consider vulnerable road users, and explaining the difference visibility can make to safety for pedestrians and cyclists, especially during the dark evenings and early mornings.
Officers will be handing out some hi-vis rucksack covers, simple lights and information about the city’s cycle training courses as well as carrying out surveys.
The team will be out between 4:45pm and 6:15pm on:
- 1 November – near St Peter's Church
- 2 November - Church Road (close to Grand Avenue), Hove
- 3 November - Preston Park South (near rose garden crossing area)
- 4 November - The Highway – Lewes Road
