The Big Clean Up weekend is just around the corner
The Brighton & Hove ‘Big Clean Up’ weekend is just around the corner!
We’ve organised events across the city on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July to clean up the city for summer.
Councillors across Brighton & Hove will be out in their wards tackling notorious ‘grot spots’ and cleaning up their neighbourhoods.
From residential streets in Bevendean to Easthill Park in Portslade, this is a city-wide event to clean up Brighton & Hove ahead of the busy summer months.
Residents are welcome to join in
Any residents who’d like to get involved in the Big Clean Up are welcome to join one of our councillor-led litter-picking, weeding and cleaning events.
The areas and tasks have been chosen by councillors with some input from their residents and guidance from our Cityclean team.
Our Cityclean team are providing equipment and arranging pick-ups of the rubbish and weeds collected in addition to our usual weekend cleaning operations.
We’ve also invited the city’s brilliant Tidy Up Team and Weed Warrior volunteers to get involved and support our Big Clean Up events.
Leave No Trace Brighton, a community led environmental group, are supporting our Regency ward clean up event on Sunday 16 July from 11am to 3pm.

Big plans for the Big Clean Up weekend
Councillor Tim Rowkins, Chair of the City Environment, South Downs and The Sea Committee, said: “We’re delighted to finally share our plans for the Big Clean Up weekend with residents across Brighton & Hove.
“We’ve organised the events to show we’re serious about cleaning up our city ahead of summer when our city is bustling with residents and tourists.
“From litter picking to graffiti removal, there are a range of activities happening across the city and we intend to get stuck in and clean the city up as we go into the summer season.
“We’d love to see some friendly faces on the 15 and 16 July and welcome residents of all abilities to join us at one of our councillor led events.”
