Do it all in a day – unlimited bus travel for £5
Residents and visitors to Brighton & Hove are being given even more reason to travel the city by bus.
A new offer is currently available to bus passengers across the city which allows all day bus travel for just £5.
The offer is the latest being funded by our Bus Service Improvement Plan.
Working with Brighton & Hove Buses, Compass Travel, The Big Lemon and Stagecoach, people can make as many journeys as they want across the city during the day for just £5.
It means you really can ‘Do it all in a day’ by bus.
Adverts will soon be appearing on the sides of buses, bus stops and on social media to let people know about the new offer.
For more information about the offer, head to the bus operator websites.
Great value for money
Councillor Trevor Muten, Chair of the Transport and Sustainability committee said: “This really is a fantastic offer for people living and visiting the city.
“At a time when money is tight for everyone, being able to travel all day on the bus for just £5 is great value for money and an affordable way to get to work, appointments or to socialise with friends and family.
“We are committed to our Bus Service Improvement Plan and encouraging more residents and visitors to take the bus. We are working hard with the bus operators to deliver better services and improve roads to enhance bus routes and make public transport in our city more accessible.”

The Bus Service Improvement Plan
In March 2021, the government asked local councils, working with bus operators, to produce an ambitious Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).
The city’s BSIP was approved by members of the Environment, Transport and Sustainability committee in September 2021 and we were awarded £27.9m by the Department for Transport to implement our BSIP in spring of 2022.
Our BSIP sets out targets for things like journey times, reliability, passenger growth and customer satisfaction. Actions in other areas such as zero emissions vehicles will also be monitored and reported against.
What the BSIP has done so far
A number of improvements have already been announced to services across the city:
- Last month, a number of changes to the 21 service between Brighton Marina and Goldstone Valley began, offering more frequent services during the day and later into the evening.
- In April, we announced enhancements to the Big Lemon’s 16, 47, 52 and 57 services and an expansion of the Breeze Up to the Downs 78.
- In February, bus operators began offering lower fares for young people thanks to funding from the BSIP.
- In January, enhancements to the 37 and 37B services were announced, linking people living in the Bristol and Meadowview Estates with the city centre and local hospitals.
- More improvements will be announced in the coming months
