Get ready to 'Level Up' and play!
Work to create an exciting new indoor soft play facility at Withdean Sports Complex starts this week!
The council, working with Freedom Leisure, will be converting 2 of the centre’s 6 squash courts to create ‘Level Up’ – a safe, fun and challenging activity for children and families.
Safe, fun and challenging
Designed for children of all ages, the facility will include a racing slide, spiral slide, ball room and more than 40 other individual play features. There will also be sensory elements and a separate area for toddlers.
In addition to traditional soft play elements. Level Up will also incorporate exciting ‘Tag Active’ features including a Treasure Hunt for younger children.
There will also be spectator seating on two floors, along with an accessible lift and toilets with baby change units.
Competitions
Once open, weekly activities will include SEND and supervised Under 5s sessions, along with opportunities for birthday parties. The facility is expected to open in April.
Look out for competitions and chances to win an invitation to a special preview event over the coming months!
Huge demand
Councillor Alan Robins chair of the Culture, Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Economic Development Committee, said: “There’s a huge demand for indoor soft play facilities for children living in our city, so we are delighted that work is now starting at Withdean Sports Complex.
“Ensuring that children are physically active from an early age is really important for their growth and development, so having a facility that is fun, social, and challenging will bring huge benefits for families living in the city, now and in years to come.”
The proposal is part of a wider plan to develop Withdean into one of three major sport and leisure hubs in the city, outlined in the council’s Sports Facilities Investment Plan.
