Are you ready to vote at the General Election on Thursday 4 July?
A General Election takes place this Thursday 4 July.
You will have one vote to choose a candidate to represent your constituency in the House of Commons.
There are three constituencies in Brighton & Hove:
- Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven
- Brighton Pavilion
- Hove and Portslade

A by-election will also take place to elect a new ward councillor for Brunswick & Adelaide to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Jilly Stevens. Only residents living in the Brunswick & Adelaide ward are eligible to vote in this by-election.

Polling stations
Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. You don't need to bring your poll card with you, but you must bring a valid form of photo identification to vote at a polling station.
You can find your polling station by visiting the Where Do I Vote? website and entering your postcode.
Voter ID
You must show photo identification when voting at polling stations in the General Election and/or the Brunswick & Adelaide by-election.
Acceptable forms of photo ID include:
- UK, EEA or Commonwealth passport
- UK or EEA driving licence (including a provisional licence)
- Older person’s or disabled person’s bus pass
- EEA national identity card
- Biometric immigration document
- Identity card with the Proof of Age Standards Scheme hologram (PASS card)
- Blue Badge
- Voter Authority Certificate (VAC)
Expired ID will still be accepted if the photograph remains a good likeness of the voter.

Postal votes
If you have a postal vote that you’ve not returned to us, you can hand your completed postal voting pack in to any polling station in the city on polling day by 10pm at the latest.
If you return your postal vote by hand, you will also be required to complete a Postal Vote Return Form.
