Central Hub Brighton pupil referral unit receives ‘good’ Ofsted rating
Central Hub Brighton, formerly known as Brighton & Hove Pupil Referral Unit, has been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted in its latest inspection of the school.
Central Hub Brighton is the city’s specialist school for children aged 4 to 16 who find it difficult to access education at school.
The school supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), those who have difficulty engaging at school, and those who have been excluded from school.
What the school is doing well
Ofsted inspectors said that staff at Central Hub Brighton are:
- proud to work at the school and determined to meet the needs of all pupils
- feel well supported and access a range of opportunities to support their professional development
- experts at understanding the range of reasons that mean pupils have found it difficult to learn in the past
The inspectors also noted that the school:
- knows each pupil well and is highly inclusive
- is calm and uses clear routines to help pupils to feel at ease
- works tirelessly to remove barriers to learning
- has developed an ambitious curriculum to help pupils re-engage with learning
