Discover the benefits of movement and music at Dance Active 2024
We are inviting residents to join us at Dance Active 2024 at The Brighton Centre, Syndicate Wing, on Saturday 7 December at 4pm.
Dance Active is an annual event hosted by the council’s Healthy Lifestyles Team, in partnership with a range of local community dance organisations.
The event aims to encourage people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of dance and supports Let’s Get Moving Brighton & Hove, our 10-year physical activity and sport strategy for the city.
This year we will be welcoming several dance groups, among them Spiral Sussex and the award-winning Brighton-based Parable Dance. The event will feature an exciting range of styles such as belly dance, street dance, contemporary and flamenco.
Dance Active 2024 will be hosted by broadcaster Clare McDonnell, from BBC Radio 5 Live Drive. A British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter will also be at the event.

Tickets cost £6 (plus an admin fee) from the Brighton Centre Box Office or you can  buy Dance Active 2024 tickets online.
Physical and mental wellbeing
Councillor Tristram Burden, Cabinet member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Service Transformation, said: “I’m delighted that Dance Active is back for 2024. This fun-filled evening is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to discover the many benefits of dance.
“Dancing has a positive impact on our physical health, so it’s a wonderful way to become more active while improving our mobility, balance and coordination.
“Dance is also great for our mental wellbeing. It’s an opportunity to socialise, make new friends and become part of a community while expressing yourself creatively.
“If you’d like to learn more about the countless ways dance can help improve your health and wellbeing, please do join us at this inclusive, intergenerational event.”
