Gasworks appeal - deadline for further comments is Wednesday
The deadline for members of the public to make further comments on the Brighton Gasworks planning application refusal appeal is Wednesday 11 December 2024.
The appeal will be decided by the government’s Planning Inspectorate and comments must be submitted through their website, not via the council’s planning register.
To make a comment, go to the Planning Inspectorate website and search by the appeal reference number 3353409.
Refusal of planning permission
An application for a mixed-use redevelopment of residential and non-residential buildings and the regeneration of a brownfield site was refused by councillors at a special Planning Committee on 22 May 2024.
In October developers St William Homes announced that it had submitted an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate following the refusal of the application.
On 5 November 2024 the Planning Inspectorate confirmed that an inspector had been appointed and that the inquiry will run for eight days from18 March 2025.
