Last chance to help choose the name for seafront park
In December we asked for your help to choose a permanent name for the new West Hove seafront park being created through the Kingsway to the Sea project.
A public vote was launched which closes at 23:59 on 6 February 2024.
Over 3,000 votes so far
Councillor Julie Cattell, Lead Member for Major Projects, said: “This project is all about listening and working with the community and businesses to make sure we deliver what is most important to them
“We’ve had great feedback to our consultations and that enthusiasm has been reflected in the voting so far. As of yesterday (Thursday 1 February) over 3,000 votes for names have already been received!
“But there’s still time to have your say as our online poll remains open until just before midnight next Tuesday.”
Predominantly funded by the government’s Levelling Up Fund, the Kingsway to the Sea project is creating a new park stretching from Hove Lagoon to the King Alfred Leisure Centre.
New and improved facilities
It will provide new and improved sports and leisure facilities; easier access for all to new gardens, activity and relaxation spaces; new and refurbished toilets; and increased biodiversity.
From over 250 name suggestions made by local residents, community groups and through social media we’ve selected nine potential names with the highest nominations and that are suitably short and easy to use.
Choose your favourite
You now have an opportunity to help choose the final name by voting for your favourite from these nine options:
- Dean Mahomed Park
- Hove Beach Park
- King Alfred Park
- Kings Park
- Kingsway Park
- Mary Clarke Park
- Sassoon Park
- West Beach Park
- West Hove Park
To cast your vote or to find out more about the options please visit our Kingsway to the Sea project pages or search online for Kingsway to the Sea.
