Our TAKEPART festival welcomed over 4000 people to move more!
On 22 June we welcomed over 4000 people to The Level to launch this year’s TAKEPART Festival.
The day offered people an opportunity to enjoy live performances from various local dance groups, sport and exercise tasters, free workshops, health and lifestyle checks, skateboarding lessons and healthwalks.
The launch was supported by three TAKEPART Local Events at Carden Park, Hangleton Park and the Crew Club with over 800 people coming together from local neighbourhoods.
Over 80 organisations took part in TAKEPART this year, across the two weeks with over 30 ‘Try it’ sessions providing people with an opportunity to try something new.
Let’s Get Moving Brighton & Hove
The festival marked the informal launch of our ‘Let's Get Moving Brighton & Hove’ physical activity and sport strategy, supporting our vision for the city to be one of the nation’s most active, with each of us having the chance to move more in a way that we enjoy.
Councillor Tristram Burden, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health, and Service Transformation, said: “We’re thrilled that shortly after releasing our 'Let’s Get Moving Strategy, according to the latest data released, Brighton & Hove is one of the most active cities in England, with the second highest levels of activity nationally.
“Being a bit more active every day is one of the best ways to improve health and wellbeing for everyone. We’re proud to have such an active city and events like TAKEPART support our commitment to ensuring that residents and visitors to the city young and old, can try new things and explore what moving more means to them!”
