Cabinet positions and portfolios confirmed at Annual Council
Cabinet positions and portfolios for the coming 12 months have been confirmed at Annual Council.
Councillor Bella Sankey was re-elected unopposed as Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council and Cabinet chair, while Councillor Jacob Taylor was re-elected to the role of Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Finance and City Regeneration.
Councillor Tim Rowkins was appointed as the joint Deputy Leader and will keep the Net Zero and Environmental Services brief.
Councillor Williams, while stepping down from the role of Deputy Leader, will remain Cabinet member for Housing.
Other councillors confirmed in Cabinet positions and their portfolios are as follows:
- Councillor Mitchie Alexander, Cabinet member for Communities, Equalities, Public Health and Adult Social Care.
- Councillor Trevor Muten, Cabinet member for Transport and City Infrastructure.
- Councillor Emma Daniel, Cabinet member for Children, Families and Youth Services.
- Councillor Jacob Allen, Cabinet member for Customer Services and Public Realm.
- Councillor Alan Robins, Cabinet member for Sports, Recreation and Libraries.
- Councillor Birgit Miller, Cabinet member for Culture, Heritage and Tourism.
Councillors have also been appointed as Cabinet advisors for 2025/26. These are:
- Councillor Andrei Czolak, Community Safety.
- Councillor John Hewitt, Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation.
- Councillor Paul Nann, Homelessness.
- Councillor Joy Robinson, Procurement and Contract Management.
The new roles were confirmed at yesterday’s Annual Council meeting at Hove Town Hall, during which Councillor Amanda Grimshaw was introduced as the new mayor of Brighton & Hove, replacing the outgoing mayor, Councillor Mohammed Asaduzzaman.
Councillor Ty Galvin will take on the role of deputy mayor.
