Councillor Alexander’s temporary leave
Councillor Mitchie Alexander is currently taking a planned leave of absence due to health-related reasons.
Last Friday Councillor Alexander had open heart surgery at the Royal Sussex County Hospital to replace a faulty aortic valve. The operation was successful, and she is recovering well.

Councillor Alexander is the Cabinet member for Communities, Equalities, Public Health and Adult Social Care, and is a ward councillor for Coldean & Stanmer.
She is expected to be off for a couple of months. During that time, her ward work will be picked up by the other ward councillor for Coldean & Stanmer, Councillor Tobias Sheard.
Her Cabinet responsibilities will be picked up by other Cabinet members.

Council Leader Bella Sankey said: “We all wish Mitchie a speedy recovery. She does a fantastic job for residents and is a brilliant personality in our Cabinet who will be greatly missed.
“While she takes the time she needs to recover, her areas of responsibility will be well looked after.”
