Quickstep into the festive season with Dance Active
Hundreds of dancers will take to the stage for Brighton & Hove’s biggest community dance event this weekend.
Dance Active, the city’s annual celebration of community dance, returns on 6 December in The Wing at Brighton Centre.
This year, Dance Active will host its largest line-up yet, with a record number of performers coming together for the family-friendly event.
Celebrating diversity and inclusion
Dancers of all ages and abilities will take part in the inclusive, intergenerational showcase, delivered by Brighton & Hove City Council’s Healthy Lifestyles Team.
Councillor Mitchie Alexander, Cabinet Member for Communities, Equalities, Public Health and Adult Social Care, said: “Dance Active is all about celebrating diversity and inclusion through dance. We’re thrilled to welcome new groups and a record number of performers this year.
“I attended last year’s event for the first time, and it was honestly such a heart-warming and joyous evening.”
Audiences can expect a vibrant mix of styles and communities, with Polish dancers and Communitas Dance joining for the first time.
Renowned dance artist Anna Des Clayes will also join the line-up, bringing her expertise in working with diverse communities and her strong links to South East Dance.
BBC Radio 5 Live broadcaster Clare McDonnell will once again compere Dance Active, a role she has proudly undertaken since 2017.
