Work starts on new outdoor padel courts at Withdean
Game4Padel, The UK’s leading operator of padel clubs, has begun work on the new padel courts at Withdean Sports Complex.
Three floodlit, covered courts are being installed at the club, with plans to open them this winter.
Game4Padel previously operated a temporary court at Withdean and the company also runs the highly successful padel and tennis facilities at Hove Beach Park, as well as courts at a further 24 venues around the UK.
More sports facilities
The padel courts are located on a vacant part of the site at Withdean, towards the centre of the complex and are surrounded on all sides by buildings and trees. Game4Padel has already begun building work on the foundations for the courts.
The three padel courts will add to the existing facilities at Withdean which include new 3G football pitches, squash, tennis, gym and an athletics track.
Huge demand
Commenting on the new courts at Withdean, Game4Padel CEO Michael Gradon said: “Padel was extremely popular at Withdean when we introduced it in 2021 and our courts at Hove Beach Park are currently operating at 97% occupancy, so it’s great these new facilities will open soon - there is huge demand in the area.
“Our team is working hard to get the courts open as quickly as possible, and we already have a really strong coaching network in Brighton and Hove ready to support the padel community at Withdean from day one."
Major sporting hub
Councillor Alan Robins, Cabinet Member for Sport, Recreation and Libraries said: “As the demand for padel courts continues to rise, these new facilities will provide many more opportunities for residents to take up this popular and fast-growing sport.
“It’s great to see Withdean continue to develop as a major sporting hub, meeting the aims set out in our Sports Facilities Investment Plan, and enhancing our growing reputation as a major sporting city.”
