Brunswick Square and Terrace re-painting programme
Re-painting of the historic properties in Brunswick Square and Terrace can go ahead as planned this year as council officers have worked with experts to identify a replacement product.
Manufactured by Crown, the new ‘Brunswick Cream’ closely matches the previous colour.
The repainting programme will also return to its original five-year schedule, after the council briefly extended the period to six years during the covid pandemic.
This follows advice from the paint manufacturer, taking into account the need to use water-based paint on the masonry, and the surrounding marine environment.
Under the 1976 Hove Borough Council Act, owners of properties in Brunswick Square and Terrace, are required to repaint their buildings, including the iron railings and balconies, every five years using a specific masonry paint.
There is also information on the retail price that Crown will charge decorators. This will help residents assess how competitively contractors have priced the provision of paint within the overall price for repainting their properties.
