East end of Madeira Drive will have parking charges reduced
The cost of parking at the east end of Madeira Drive will be reduced following feedback from residents and businesses.
Parking prices in the area changed last month when we introduced a new unified summer seafront tariff, designed to simplify pricing in one of the busiest parts of Brighton & Hove.
But, having listened carefully to the views of people who use the facilities or need access to the beach at that end of Madeira Drive, parking charges will be lowered as a trial ahead of the formal Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) process which would determine the way forward
The price changes for the area east of the arches are set out below:
- One hour from £5.40 to £2.90
- Two hours from £9.30 to £5.50
- Four hours from £15.70 to £10.70
- Six hours from £20.70 to £14
- 11 hours from £23.70 to 17.20
The changes will come into effect in around 3 to 4 weeks to allow time for updating the parking machines and changes to PayByPhone systems.
In addition to the changes, we’ve also identified space to introduce new parking spaces in the area with the full details being included in the upcoming TRO.
