Meningitis cases in Kent
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is investigating an outbreak of meningococcal disease in Kent.
UKHSA is leading the response, and Brighton & Hove City Council’s Public Health team is staying in close contact with UKHSA and local partners.
Meningococcal disease can spread through close and prolonged contact. The disease is an infection caused by a certain type of bacteria, which can lead to meningitis.
UKHSA will contact anyone who needs treatment or advice. If you are identified as a close contact, the most important action is to take the antibiotic offered to you.
For up-to-date information on the situation in the local area, visit the NHS Sussex webpage.
