Bulky waste
Due to resource issues, we cannot take bulky waste phone calls today. The phone line will be open again at 9:30am on 22 April. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Do not charge your electric vehicle by running a cable across the public highway from a domestic or business electricity supply. Instead, you should use the nearest chargepoint to you. We are aware of the trials some local authorities (LAs) are undertaking to allow residents to lay their EV cable in a channel through the pavement to access their vehicle on the public highway.
We have some concerns about the channel strategy, in terms of accessibility to the space (particularly in controlled parking zones), the potential for trip hazards depending on the method used, ongoing maintenance of these new features, as well as liability should an incident arise. The trials currently being done should give us some data on these points.
We will watch with interest when those trials are complete and the LAs publish their findings. But, like the vast majority of other councils in the country we are pursuing a strategy of making on-street charging available in areas where residents are demonstrating demand.
