The data controller for your data
Brighton & Hove City Council is the data controller for purposes of the Data Protection Act (2018) and The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") and is registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Why we collect your data
We are collecting your data for the purpose of Moving Traffic Enforcement within School Streets. We have a lawful basis for processing this data under Article 6 (1) (e), to enable Penalty Charge Notices and subsequent procedural documents to be issued, and to carry out enforcement duties in accordance with the Traffic Management Act 2004.
Article 9(2)(g) UK GDPR and Schedule 1 of the Data Protection Act 2018 to process special category data where necessary.
Who we will share your data with
Your data may be shared with:
- Traffic Enforcement Centre at Northampton County Court - for the propose of debt recovery when applicable
- Certificated Enforcement Agency (formerly known as bailiffs) - for debt recovery when applicable
- Police - For crime prevention and investigation. Data is only shared upon request from the police and when the relevant legal document is submitted
- DVLA- Supplies registered keeper details when a contravention occurs
- Traffic Penalty Tribunal- Receives case data when Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) are appealed and ensures fairness and transparency in enforcement
- Videalert- Access to alerts generated by the enforcement system
- Deepstore- For the storage of paper applications for School Street Exemptions
- IDOX - For securely storing, organising, and managing documents and records
- Taranto- Processing the Penalty Charge Notice Data
- Euro Parking Collection plc (EPC) - PCNs for foreign registered or non‑UK‑addressed drivers may be transferred to EPC for recovery. EPC will contact you directly
How long we will hold your data (retention)
We will not keep your data for longer than necessary, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain the data.
Transferring data outside the European Economic Area
We do not transfer your information outside the European Economic Area.
