Brighton & Hove City council are committed to protecting your personal information. As a data controller we have a responsibility to make sure you know why and how your personal information is being collected in accordance with relevant data protection law.
Purposes and lawful basis of processing
This survey is optional, and you are under no obligation to complete or return the survey.
We are collecting your data for the purpose of understanding and improving the health of people in Brighton and Hove by promoting healthy lifestyle services and advice. Our lawful basis for processing is necessary for us to fulfil the performance of a task carried out in the public interest under Health and Social Care Act 2012, (Part 1, 12, 2B). This is inline with GDPR Article 6, (e) Where special category data is being processed, this is necessary purposes of preventive or occupational medicine and for carrying out our obligations and duties in the field of employment, this is in line with GDPR Article 9, (h&b) and the Data Protection Act 2018, Schedule 1, Part 1, Para 6 and Para 2,2 (a).
Who we will share your data with
Your anonymised data may be shared with Brighton & Hove City Council via a statistical based report. Your employer will not know how each individual answers the survey. Your anonymised data may also be shared with other Brighton and Hove City Council team such as Public Health and data connected to the transport questions with Travel and Transport Team. The statistical data is shared to better inform service provision to Brighton and Hove citizens and how Brighton and Hove City Council can better support its employees.
How long we will hold your data (retention)
We will hold your personal data for no longer than 6 months at which point, it will be fully anonymised.
Transferring data outside the European Economic Area
Your information is not processed outside of the European Economic Area.

Under GDPR you have certain rights concerning your information.
We aim to resolve all complaints about how we handle personal information. You also have the right to make a complaint about data protection to the Information Commissioner's Office.
