LGR consultation for Sussex

The government carried out an 8-week statutory consultation on different proposals to change how local government is structured across Sussex. The consultation ran for 8 weeks from Wednesday 19 November 2025, until Sunday 11 January 2026. Anyone impacted by these changes could respond.

The government’s consultation set out all the options being considered for creating new unitary councils. Four options were consulted on, with details available online alongside the consultation.

Government ministers will consider responses from statutory consultees and any other respondents, and use this feedback, alongside other evidence, to inform a final decision.
