Early Intervention in Psychosis
NHS service providing support to people aged up to 65 years old who are experiencing their first episode of psychosis.
Early Intervention in Psychosis is an NHS service. We support people who are experiencing their first episode of psychosis. You must be aged 14 to 65 to use our service.
Early intervention means getting help for problems when they start, before they develop into a more serious illness. The earlier someone gets help, the more quickly support can be put in place to help their recovery.
We offer a range of community-based support, including:
- one-to-one talking therapies
- practical help with housing, benefits and finances
- support to get back to work, studies and other social and leisure activities
- medication, where appropriate
See our website for more information.
How to get support from us
You or your family and friends can call us. We will be able to offer you time to talk about your concerns and give you an opportunity to understand what you are going through. We can meet with you and offer time to assess what is happening and explore ways of helping.
Some people might find seeing the GP a first step and this is a good place to start. Your GP can offer support and guidance and can also refer you to us.
If you are at school, college or work you might find it easier to let your tutors, counsellor or employer know you are not feeling yourself. They can contact somebody on your behalf.
Anyone can refer a person to our team. This could be the young person themselves, their family, carer or a concerned acquaintance.
