About
The Speech and Language Centre is located within Carden Primary School. The Centre has provision for mixed-age pupils from Reception to Year 6, from within Brighton and Hove. All pupils have a primary Speech, Language and Communication Need.
The Centre provides specialist intensive and collaborative speech and language teaching and therapy. The admission process is via a multi-disciplinary panel.
The Centre is an integral part of the whole school, allowing pupils to access the agreed curriculum of Carden Primary School, appropriately differentiated to the child's needs.
Pupils and parents/carers can access a range of social, recreational and extra-curricular activities offered by the school.

The coordinator of the Speech and Language Centre is a Regional Makaton Tutor and an experienced SEND teacher working with children from EYFS to KS4 in mainstream, specialist and advisory settings.
We have a teacher who has recently undertaken an M.Ed. in SLCN, and part-time teachers who are experienced mainstream teachers.
An Educational Psychologist supports with allocated sessions each term.
