Downs Junior School is seeking to appoint 2 enthusiastic and highly motivated TAs/INAs, to work with children with complex needs. The posts are 8.30am-3.15pm, Mon-Fri, term time only, Grade C & D. The roles will include working in our SEN Hub, acting as a Learning Mentor, & some short periods of Class Cover.
Under an agreed system of supervision and by implementation of the Boxhall Nurture Program (see attached leaflet), you role will take a lead role within the school to address the needs of pupils who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning.
About the role
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Excellent numeracy/literacy skills-equivalent to NVQ level 2 in English & Maths
- Ability to plan effective actions for pupils at risk of underachieving
- Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
- Ability to relate well to children and adults
- Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
- Experience of, & ability to work with, children 1-1, & children with complex needs
- Basic understanding of child development and learning
- Commitment to Inclusion
- Good IT skills
- Firm, kind and flexible approach
- Ability to work under the general guidance of the SEMH & SENCO.
