Pension scheme
Most employees will be automatically enrolled in the LGPS pension scheme (LGPS), provided by East Sussex Pension Fund. The LGPS is a defined benefits workplace pension scheme, which provides a tax efficient way of saving for your retirement.
LGPS members also have access to the Shared Cost Additional Voluntary Contribution Scheme, operated by our partners, My Money Matters and discounted services with partnered companies for wills, by The Will Guys, mortgage advice by the Mortgage Advice Bureau and a Savings and Investment product called Wealthify.
Cycle to work scheme
The council runs a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme, which is open all year round and has an upper limit of £3,000.
Discounts for staff
Our staff can enjoy a wide range of discounts from local and national retailers. This includes discounted cinema tickets, holidays and gym memberships with our My Staff Shop online benefits account.
Staff can also apply for an Easit card for a small annual fee to receive a range of discounts on rail and bus travel.
Freedom Leisure offers our staff a generously discounted corporate membership rate for individuals and their families. A healthy workplace membership gives you unlimited access to local gyms, swimming pools and fitness classes.

Interest free and low interest loan schemes
We offer interest free loans for property rental deposits, bicycles, bus and rail season tickets, and car parking season tickets. This is repaid over an agreed period directly from your salary.
A low interest loan to purchase an approved private vehicle to use for business, as well as personal use, is also available to staff who consistently need to travel a minimum of 1,000 miles for business per year.)
Individual schools choose whether to adopt Brighton & Hove City Council loan schemes, therefore, please check with your School Business Manager, as to availability and individual eligibility.
Workplace savings scheme
We've partnered with Wave Community Bank to provide the Chorus workplace savings scheme. It's designed to make money management simple for all staff, offering a seamless way to save money or make loan repayments directly via payroll.
