People in Brighton & Hove can now be rewarded for choosing active and sustainable travel.
The ‘Move for Change’ initiative, powered by the BetterPoints app, has been launched this month to encourage and reward residents and employees for walking, cycling, and using public transport.
By signing up to the Move for Change challenge, residents and commuters can collect points which can then be exchanged for discounts and vouchers at local shops.
Since February 1, more than 100 people have signed up, over than 1500 activities have been logged and almost 2500 miles have been travelled.
Please continue to follow all government guidance and restrictions on movement and travel.

Active, sustainable and inclusive travel in Brighton & Hove
The way we travel around Brighton & Hove is changing. Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen more people choose to walk or cycle short distances, while the number of people working from home has also increased.
We are currently consulting on changes to transport in the city that would support more people to walk and cycle.
We are also facing a climate emergency. The council has pledged to become a carbon neutral city by 2030 and encouraging more people to choose active and sustainable transport means we can further reduce toxic emissions and improve the city’s air quality. Active travel also has many proven mental and physical health benefits.
Chair of the Environment, Transport and Sustainability committee Amy Heley said: “Using BetterPoints is a great way of being rewarded for something that already has so many benefits.
“If we’re to meet our goals of being a carbon neutral city, we need to do everything we can to encourage more of our residents and those who work in our city to travel actively and sustainably.
“I’d also like to thank those local businesses who have signed up to offer rewards. If we can get more people walking, cycling, scooting and using public transport while supporting our local economy at the same time, then it’s win-win.
