Brighton & Hove’s small firms encouraged to sign up for free support and profiling from the campaign’s UK roadshow
Small Business Saturday’s national roadshow will be coming to Brighton & Hove in November to shine a spotlight on the city’s entrepreneurs, and local firms are being encouraged to sign up and get involved.
Arriving at Jubilee Square in Brighton on 23 November, ‘The Tour’ will visit and profile independent businesses and there will be an opportunity for local business owners, leaders and experts from across the small business community to be interviewed live on Small Business Saturday’s social media channels.
Free training
They will also be able to take part in a month-long, online programme of free training and skills support that will run alongside, including virtual workshops, webinars and mentoring, on a range of small business topics.
Council leader Phélim Mac Cafferty said:
“The pandemic has been an extremely challenging time for our small businesses, so having the support of the Small Business Saturday tour is very welcome.
“We hope businesses from across the city will get involved with the tour to share and learn about developing business in this new landscape, helping the city become carbon neutral by 2030 by reducing waste, re-using materials and using local supply chains. It’s also an opportunity for residents and visitors to support our local and regional economy as we move towards a sustainable recovery.”
Spotlight on small business
Michelle Ovens, CBE, director of Small Business Saturday, said:
“We are so excited to get back on the road and put the spotlight on fantastic small businesses in Brighton & Hove and across the country, as well as opening up skills and networking opportunities to millions of entrepreneurs online.
“I would encourage all small businesses across East Sussex to get involved, whether it is in person or digitally.”
Now in its ninth year in the UK, Small Business Saturday is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which celebrates small business success and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and to support businesses in their communities.
Setting off from the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, The Tour has a strong focus on sustainability, to highlight the critical role of small businesses in helping the UK achieve its goal of becoming net zero by 2050.
How to get involved
To get involved in The Tour and book one-to-one mentoring sessions, small businesses should visit the ‘My Business Section’ on the Small Business Saturday website.
The Tour will be located in Jubliee Square in Brighton & Hove City centre on Tuesday 23rd November, between 10am and 2pm for those wishing to drop by.
This year Small Business Saturday takes place on 4 December 2021.
