We’re looking for volunteer Circular Economy Champions to help Brighton & Hove residents reduce waste and recycle more.
Circular economy principles are based on moving away from a ‘throw-away society’ to one that minimises waste and pollution. It keeps products and materials in use for as long as possible and supports the protection of natural resources.
The initiative is part of a bigger BLUEPRINT project, working towards becoming a circular economy with better outcomes for the planet and the population.
Our Circular Economy Champions will play an important part in inspiring their local communities to change behaviour to reduce food and textiles waste and encourage more recycling of furniture and electrical items.
If you want to make a difference and can inspire others to get onboard we want to hear from you. The initiative offers a series of events and challenges for you to get involved in throughout the year and you’ll have the opportunity to share your eco ideas and make them happen.
Councillor Amy Heley, co-chair of the Environment, Transport & Sustainability Committee, said: “Becoming a Circular Economy Champion is a great opportunity to get involved in action that benefits us locally and globally.
“The way we act and the choices we make directly impact the effects of climate change.
“We need to inspire and encourage everyone to think about how our actions impact on the world. Collectively, small steps can affect big change.”

The BLUEPRINT project has a total budget of 5.6m euros, of which 3.8m euros were awarded by the European Regional Development Fund via the Interreg France (Channel) England programme.
