We're having a Fan Party and you're all invited!
As Brighton & Hove gears up to welcome the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 tournament which kicks off on July 6, exciting plans have been unveiled for a Fan Party at Victoria Gardens.
The free, family friendly event, will take place from 12 noon to 6pm on match days and weekends during the tournament - Saturday 9 July to Monday 11 July, Friday 15 July to Sunday 17 July and Wednesday 20 July.
Get together!
The Fan Party will encourage residents, visiting football fans, their friends and families, to gather together, enjoy food, music and entertainment and celebrate being part of the country’s biggest ever women’s sporting event. Fan parties are being held in all the nine host cities for UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.
Live music!
Brighton & Hove’s Fan Party will offer live music and entertainment from local bands, a pop-up football pitch for coaching sessions, giant deckchair and food and drink, along with football themed activities and face painting provided by tournament sponsor Starling Bank.
Football fans are also encouraged to enhance their Fan Party experience with a visit to the nearby ‘Goal Power’ exhibition of the History of Women’s Football at the nearby Brighton Museum and Art Gallery.
Record breaking!
Councillor Martin Osborne, joint chair of the council’s Tourism, Equalities, Communities and Culture Committee said: “We are delighted to be one of the nine host cities for UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 and, after two years of planning, it’s great to see the city gearing up to celebrate this record-breaking event.
“Our Fan Party will not only give residents and their families a chance to join in the celebrations alongside football fans from Austria and Norway but will provide opportunities for women of all ages to find out how they can get involved in the beautiful game here in Sussex.”
Showtime!
UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, Head of Tournament Delivery, Chris Bryant added: “Showtime is almost upon us. UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 will be a landmark, ground-breaking tournament in so many ways and not just for the fantastic football on the pitch.
“All of our host cities are planning events before, during and after games. Whether you are a diehard football fan or just looking to enjoy your first tournament, we want everyone to share in the momentum of this event.”
