New funding to support CEO respect campaign
A successful bid for funding is set to help launch a new campaign of respect for the city’s Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs).
£25,000 is going to be shared between Brighton & Hove City Council and North Essex Parking Partnership (NEPP) on a joint campaign aimed at tacking the abuse suffered by CEOs, also known as traffic wardens.
The council’s Parking Enforcement Team learned of the win last month at a Parking and Traffic Regulations Outside London (PATROL) reception in Westminster.
The campaign will look to dispel some of the common myths that lie behind the abuse suffered by the city’s CEOs and promote a culture of respect and empathy. It will share real life stories and promote the social value aspects of the role to raise the profile of CEO’s.
Working with the NEPP, we’ll be developing a suite of materials for social media, print, radio and TV that could be used for campaigns across the country.
Laura Padden, Director, PATROL, said: ‘Brighton and NEPP are very worthy winners of this first year of the Driving Improvement Awards and we are looking forward to working with both authorities to bring together and shape the two campaigns and their respective tactics together.
‘The awards offer a fantastic opportunity for local authority teams to showcase their creativity in and commitment to addressing local challenges, helping to drive change nationally. Participating in the awards will not only highlight an authority’s dedication to improving community engagement, but also position their team as a leader in innovative problem solving.’
Attending the reception with the team, Councillor Trevor Muten, Cabinet Member for Transport, Parking and Public Realm said: “I’d like to congratulate the team for their fantastic work and their winning bid.
“Civil Enforcement Officers play a really important community role in keeping the city moving and our roads and pavements safe. I hope this new campaign will show people in the city and across the country that CEOs deserve our respect."
