Cycle to Work Day – Thursday 7 August
Commuters across Brighton & Hove are being encouraged to get pedalling next week and bike it into work.
We’re making Thursday 7 August Cycle to Work Day.
Whether you’re heading to your office, business, charity, company, school, or you’re visiting friends or family, it’s a great opportunity to switch four wheels for two.
To encourage people to cycle into work, we’ve got events and activities lined up for the day, including a workplace photo competition, bike breakfasts and a special offer on Beryl Bikes.

What’s going on
Win a cycle repair stand for your workplace: Take a photo of yourself and two work colleagues cycling into work on Cycle to Work Day. Then send it to transport.projects@brighton-hove.gov.uk for your chance to win one of two cycle repair stands for your workplace.
Bike Breakfasts: Carats Café in Southwick is offering free coffee and pastries to people cycling into work on Thursday 7 August. Bike Boom will also be attending to help with minor bike repairs or maintenance. Lost in the Lanes in Nile Street, Brighton will also be offering drinks and snacks.
Beryl Bike offer: Beryl Bikes will be introducing a special offer for those hiring bikes on Cycle to Work day. We’ll be sharing details on our social media and Cycle to Work Day webpage soon.
Councillor Trevor Muten, Cabinet member for Transport and City Infrastructure, said: “Cycling is a great way to commute into work, so this is an ideal opportunity to get out your bike.
“We know hundreds of people across Brighton & Hove already cycle regularly to and from their office or workplace. If you haven’t been on your bike for a while, summer is an ideal time to get back in the saddle.
“Cycling has so many physical and mental health benefits, but it’s also great for reducing the city’s harmful emissions and improving air quality.”
