Park & Ride in full swing for Bank Holiday weekend
As Brighton & Hove gears up for a bumper Bank Holiday weekend, we’re reminding people heading into the city that our Summer Park & Ride is ready and waiting.
The summer service will be open from 9am to 9pm (last bus from city centre 8.30pm) on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, taking visitors from the University of Sussex in Falmer to the city centre every 15 minutes for just £7 per car, including all its passengers.
Whether you’re heading down to the seafront or want to do some shopping, it’s a quick and easy way to travel in and out of the city during one of the busiest weekends of the year.

The journey so far
The summer Park & Ride launched on Sunday 3 August, in partnership with the University of Sussex and with the support of Brighton & Hove Buses. It also ran on Sunday 10 August and Sunday 17 August.
Around 500 people have used the summer service to and from the University of Sussex campus car park in Falmer, resulting in around a thousand bus passenger journeys.
We’ve also been collecting feedback from users:
Amy, visiting from Kent on Sunday 17 August, said “It’s a great initiative and an affordable parking option that allows us to come and visit Brighton and all it has to offer!”
Other user feedback includes:
“…it was perfect and took the stress out of what became a lovely day out.” – P&R passenger
“This was so easy. We drove from Farnham in Surrey to go to a particular shop in the lanes and this Park & Ride scheme made it so simple.” – P&R passenger
“It was an excellent service. The staff were very helpful and friendly.” – P&R passenger
“Staff were very helpful. Service was very efficient and really good to have access to toilets after a long drive in from home. Great price for a full car of passengers.” – P&R passenger
Bus driver Athananthious Ishaq from Brighton & Hove Buses said: “It’s an honour to be driving the buses for this new Park & Ride service. It’s the missing link for people visiting our wonderful city and it’s great to be part of it!”

Great success
Councillor Trevor Muten, Cabinet member for Transport and City Infrastructure, said: “It’s been great to see the summer Park & Ride be so popular and I’m expecting it to be even busier during the Bank Holiday weekend.
“It offers visitors a quick, easy and affordable way to travel into the city centre, stress free. The feedback we’ve received so far has been amazing.
“Park & Ride is something we were determined to deliver for Brighton & Hove as part of a range of projects to give people sustainable, practical and affordable choices for traveling in and around the city.
Nick Hill, Commercial Director at Brighton & Hove Buses, said: “We're delighted to be working with Brighton & Hove City Council on this exciting project.
“We're really pleased with how well the service has been operating and how positive the passenger feedback has been.”
