Work to improve the look and feel of a popular shopping area of the city will begin on Monday 9 January

Accommodation and support is available for people sleeping rough in the city who need the council’s help this Christmas, with our SWEP shelter open from Christmas Eve to 28 December and from New Year’s Eve to 2 January.

We’ve installed new food donation points in council buildings to help staff, councillors and residents join Brighton & Hove Food Partnership's Food SOS campaign. 

A winter light artwork for Madeira Terrace will be switched-on on 21 December to coincide with the return of the Burning the Clocks parade, which culminates on the beach below Madeira Drive.

We’re backing the national ‘Warm This Winter’ campaign, calling on the government to provide emergency support, help to upgrade homes and access to cheap energy to lessen reliance on gas and oil.

Local action to tackle the climate and biodiversity emergencies has been recognised by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), with Brighton & Hove City Council achieving a CDP score of A- for 2022.

Brighton Marathon will go ahead on Sunday 2 April 2023. All places purchased by runners and charities for 2023 will be honoured by London Marathon Events.
