This year’s Volunteers Week comes at a time when huge numbers of people have been volunteering to support the city’s response to Covid-19. Volunteers provide vital support to people across the city in all circumstances - we'd like to thank them all.

People who live in the city, many of whom have no garden or balcony, say that they can’t go to their local park or the seafront because they feel unsafe due to the high visitor numbers on the seafront.

Because of concerns around safety, our current advice to schools and council nurseries is that they should not open more widely for pupils on 1 June.

We’re again asking people to limit travel to the city and the seafront this weekend. Stewards will be in place between 11am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday to monitor the central beach area. 

COVID-19 has given us a unique opportunity to reduce, and potentially stop, the onward transmission of HIV. But anyone at risk must get tested now before lockdown ends.
