Description
Three-storey inter-war shop. Rendered with roof largely hidden behind parapet.
The ground floor contains a modern shopfront. Above, recessed window openings rise from the first to the second floor with a decorative metal panel between the windows. Two windows to the narrow front elevation, all incorporated within a raised moulded surround.
Of a smaller scale than many in the area, the building retains a strong sense of verticality.
A. Architectural, design and artistic interest
ii. A good example of an inter-war shop. Its small scale contrasts with the majority of such shops in the locality, which were mostly built on a much greater scale.
C. Townscape interest
ii. Not within a conservation area, the building is set on a prominent corner and contributes greatly to the street scene.
F. Intactness
i. The building survives in a well-preserved state, other than a modern shopfront on the ground floor.
Date of Inclusion
2015.
