Currently under construction

Significant levels of construction are progressing on 2 separate sites either side of the railway, with tall cranes and emerging residential blocks clearly visible from many long-range views across the western side of the city.

At 1-3 Ellen Street, Watkin Jones are constructing ‘Hove Gardens’, a major mixed-use scheme to provide 216 homes for rent and 2,016 square metres of employment space. The company have submitted a planning application (ref BH2022/01605) for a further block on an adjacent site.

On the former Sackville Trading Estate construction is underway by Moda Living on ‘Moda – Hove Central’, part of a neighbourhood including over 820 homes (with 564 ‘build to rent apartments’) workspaces, shops, cafes, bars and public realm. The first residents are expected to move in late 2023.

Construction work on both of these sites is expected to continue throughout 2023 and beyond.

Future development
