About the Palmeira Square re-landscaping project

An exciting new project to re-landscape the north part of Palmeira Square started in September 2025.

Working in partnership with the Friends of Palmeira & Adelaide (FOPA), we’re delivering an attractive landscape design that will be more suited to contemporary needs and tastes, while reflecting the heritage of the square pre-1953, and celebrating its surrounding architecture and sea views.

We commissioned landscape architects to visualise the design and to create the plans for a landscape contractor to deliver.

A public consultation on the proposals was open for comment from August 2025 to September 2025 through our YourVoice platform, and we also engage with key city stakeholders and councillors regularly. There will be further opportunities to view and discuss plans.

The square is currently fenced off while work takes place and to allow the planting to establish.
