Registration open for leader’s Hangleton & Knoll surgery
Councillor Bella Sankey, Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council, is holding her next leader’s surgery in the Hangleton & Knoll ward.
The surgery is taking place at 3pm on Friday 26 January at St Richard’s Community Centre, Egmont Road, Hove, BN3 7FP.
The surgery follows successful surgeries in the Regency ward and Queen’s Park ward as a third in series, organised to give residents the opportunity to raise any concerns and share their ideas with the leader directly.
Appointment slots for the surgery can be booked in advance using the details outlined below.
We’ll be sharing information on future surgeries as the details are confirmed.
A better Brighton & Hove for all
Councillors agreed a new vision for a 'better Brighton & Hove for all' last summer in the Council Plan for 2023 to 2027. The plan was approved at the Full Council meeting on Thursday 20 July.
The plan outlines 4 key outcomes:
- A city to be proud of
- A fair and inclusive city
- A heathy city where people thrive
- A responsive council with well-run services
The leader’s surgeries are supporting support outcome 4 by listening to the needs of residents and communities and responding to their feedback.
Following up on surgery outcomes
Councillor Sankey said: “Meeting up with residents of individual wards and listening to their ideas, needs and concerns has been invaluable to me and my team.
“I am very proud to be able to follow up the outcomes of my first surgery in Regency Ward with a policy change, ensuring that children not educated in school who are entitled to free school meals, receive equivalent through meal vouchers.
“We are currently working on actions following my surgery in Queens Park ward, where I had the chance to hear from residents regarding issues involving housing, parking and public realm.
“I’m looking forward to meeting residents from the Hangleton & Knoll community and hearing about their priorities.”
